They say that “if you’ve got it, haunt it!” Well, in Dublin this Halloween, we’ve certainly got it all! From scary stories to workshops for you & your children, Dublin is the place to be this scary season.
Here at City Sightseeing, we’ve picked the best of what’s on offer for you & your family this coming week in the big city. The best bit being – we visit them all! And your kids ride with us for free, too!
Part 1 – Your wicked weekend in the city!
Start off by celebrating one of Dublin’s own at the Bram Stoker Festival, across a number of events all over the city at the weekend. Author of the horror novel Dracula, Bram Stoker arguably sparked the legacy of Halloween celebrations here in Dublin to the level that they are today.
Friday 26th October
Marsh’s and the Gothic, Marsh’s library, Stop 12
Find out the secrets of Marsh’s library, Ireland’s oldest public library, and it’s fascinating ties to the genre of gothic fiction. Opened in 1701, Marsh’s Library at St Patrick’s Cathedral has seen a great many readers come and go over the centuries, including Bram Stoker himself.
Saturday 27th October
Stokerland, St. Patrick’s Park, Stop 12
Step right up to this 2-day Victorian themed fairground pop-up, just a stone’s throw from St Patrick’s gothic Cathedral. Here, there will be activities for all the family including a street theatre, a performance tent, free face-painting, Victorian funfair rides, macabre thrills and Victorian-era games for everyone to enjoy. Perfect for the budget-conscious family looking for a day of fun!
Sunday 28th October
PaINTCLUB Family – EPIC Museum, Stop 3a
At these special family events, suitable for ages 8 through 18 – and adults too(!), you and your family can come together and create a ‘Dracula’ inspired masterpiece. With all materials provided and step by step instruction, it’ll give you the chance to create a little something to go on the mantle right next to your family photos this Halloween!
Animation Workshop on Disney’s Vampirina – Brown Bag Films, Stop 21b
Hop on the blue route & head for another chance for your kids to get those creative juices flowing at Brown Bag Films. Kids will work together here on a giant vampire doodle, based on the Disney hit characters in Vampirina, as well as creating their own individual characters to take home.
