Departing twice daily from 14 Upper O’Connell Street, this fascinating half day trip is the best of both worlds. The first part of your half day tour is dedicated to charming Malahide Castle, its 800-year history and The Talbot family. The second part of this tour explores the scenic Dublin coastline, with a coastal drive from Malahide Village to Howth Village, where you will stop for a quick bite to eat before heading south along the beautiful area called Dublin Bay. En this tour you will also pass Bull Island and the Edwardian borough of Clontarf, as you begin to make your way back into Dublin’s City Centre.

Malahide Castle Tour

With Admission and a guided Malahide Castle Tour included, you can discover the Castle’s fascinating history. Learn about the famous Talbot family, which 800-year residence only ended in 1975. A stately and noble family, the Talbot’s were instrumental in many aspects of Irish life and their history is a timeline of the most important events in Irish and British relations for hundreds of years.

The Malahide Castle tour includes access to the interpretation and exhibition centres, entry to the superb Victorian Walled Botanical Gardens and the 250 acre parkland surrounding the castle. Stroll through the castle grounds, enjoying its unique flora and fauna along the way. You too have the chance to stop by the onsite Avoca Café for a coffee or quick bite to eat. The castle is also home to a well-equipped playground and currently hosts Ireland’s international cricket stadium.
Guided tours of Malahide Castle are provided in 6 different languages via interactive audio sets, including German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. All tours are conducted by a friendly and informative English speaking guide.

Howth

The coastal tour continues south along the Dublin Coast to the majestic Howth Peninsula. Stroll through historic Howth village and visit the seals lounging by the south pier, young or old, you will love them! No visit to Howth is complete without trying their world famous Fish & Chips. Ask your driver to recommend a good restaurant or take away.

The tour continues over Howth Summit for breath-taking views of iconic Dublin Bay with Dublin Mountains also seen in the distance.

Our half day trip returns to Dublin city via the coast road, which gives beautiful views over Dublin Bay, St. Anne’s Park and Bull Island. Created by William Bligh, the infamous Captain of the Bounty. (Ask your friendly driver or guide about this great Dublin attraction).
