Read on to check out some of our family favourites!
Phoenix Park – Stop 19
Step inside Europe’s largest enclosed public park in its most beautiful season (in our opinion!). Enjoy a wander through the leaves & trees – and let the children cut loose across over 700 hectares of beautiful, unspoilt parkland. Keep making your way through, and you’ll more than likely bump into a few of the locals, the fallow deer that grace the park! THIS is guaranteed to be the Kodak moment of your trip. Best part is that it’s completely FREE!
Tip: Buy our Deluxe Ticket for free bike hire on your trip to the park!
Dublin Zoo – Stop 19
Okay, you’ve got us. We love animals, and so do children! The Dublin Zoo is a genuine real kids’ favourite all year-long. Check out the regulars – the elephants, penguins & tigers, and make some new friends with the new-born sea lion pups, giraffe calf & flamingo chicks – only born a couple of months ago!
To celebrate the half-term holiday, the zoo will also be running some special events including their Young Workshop series & the return of their Wild Lights show across the aquatic area and, new for 2018, Winter Wonderland section, too. Check out the details & book tickets here.
Dublinia – Stop 11
Experience Dublin through the ages, with 4 different levels to check out. Relive the Viking-era, where your little’un will get a chance to dress like a Viking and experience what life was like here in Ireland over 1000 years ago.
Other levels include medieval Dublin & the opportunity to play the games played during this time, through to their renowned History Hunters section and finally, views across all of Dublin from St. Michael’s Tower at level 4. Find a list of all activities happening at Dublinia by visiting their website here.
Show the family where your heroes meet to claim true greatness. The pinnacle of Irish sport, Croke Park, is home to many famed tales across generations. Show your next generation the history, energy & passion that’s part of Croker by treating them to a stadium tour. Step out on the turf, visit the dressing rooms & see the trophies – making sure that you take a look around the GAA museum whilst you’re at it – FREE with your ticket! Who knows, the trip might just inspire them to be the future heroes…
The Ark – Stop 9
Dublin’s cultural hub for youngsters, The Ark, will be playing host to a number of special events across the half-term break. In addition to the Halloween inspired ‘Dracula’s disco’ happening on Bank Holiday Monday, Dublin Fringe award winner, Bombinate Theatre, will be putting on shows across a number of days for all children aged 8 and over.
Are your little’uns a little, littler? Don’t worry, the ever-popular Seedlings workshop will take you & your toddler along a creative journey through art – both for them & for you!
Finish off your red route tour at Stop 22, and hop across the river to The National Wax Museum to start mixing it with the rich & famous of Ireland – and Jedward. Say hello to your favourite cartoon characters in Kids World, or take a trip through history and have your photos taken next to the great Irish achievers through the years. You can even have your children create their own wax work in the Wax Hands workshop! Best part of all, they’re open until 10pm – perfect for those too excited on their holidays to sleep! And hey if these aren’t enough reasons, maybe Mum can even squeeze in a bit of Christmas shopping whilst she’s here in the big city, too!
